Retail
Within a retail setting a pharmacist must be able to stay composed at all times. Working with patients who are upset that they are diagnosed with a disease is not easy in the slightest bit. These patient tend to want information from the pharmacist that they can understand, and they want it fast. But its not all about the speed in which you counsel these patients, as Ms. Bracken says “Pick your head up, stop looking at the dashboard, look at the horizon and see whats in front of you” In other words focus on helping the patient, not how many patients you've counseled.
Academia
Within this career path of Pharmacy your job and daily routine will never be the same. The best part about this field is that you will never stop learning. While working in a university setting your knowledge will continue to grow. As a professor or a dean, you will be required to have both long and short term projects. These projects as Dean Spooner would say "Keeps you feeling young and acting young" as you will work along side your students to perform outside investigations. Dealing with students from the ages of 20-25 can cause some stress, but the satisfaction of witnessing their progression throughout the profession is indescribable.
Industry
Within industry Pharmacy the career opportunities are endless. Working in the industry will allow you to either manage a research and development team or even take part in these international investigations yourself. The best part about the industry is that there is a lot of growth potential, unlike any other field within pharmacy. Also the satisfaction of producing a drug that will help billions of people is one that no other field within pharmacy can receive. While this field may be the most satisfying, it is the most challenging field according to Mr. Riley.
Insurance
Working as an Insurance pharmacist is a job that require outstanding speaking skills. These pharmacist tend to talk all day, whether that be with a doctor, retail pharmacist, or a small amount of patients. While retail pharmacy requires an almost equal amount of speaking skills, these conversations tend to be more in depth. When talking to patients, you need to be able to understand how they are feeling and try to talk in the most comforting way you can. Overall, the insurance business is one that require lots of compassion and speaking skills.
